about

The album contains the entire soundtrack of the film The Magic Mountain, a complex and varied work, with a multiplicity of musical styles and approaches: from the classical quartet, to the baroque, to minimalist music, passing through electronics.
We can find some stylistic references in composers of different eras, including: Mozart, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Arvo Part, Alva Noto, Philip Glass and John Adams. This work was for me one of the most complete experiences in composing film music.
I found myself facing completely different musical styles in a single film, with the aim of still giving a common sense, homogeneity and coherence to everything.
With the director Claudio Zulian, also an excellent musician and a great connoisseur of both classical and contemporary music, we created the concept on which to structure the songs.
The collaboration with the orchestrator Denis Feletto was also very interesting and fruitful, as he expertly created the parts of the classical pieces, but also gave his touch with the piano to contemporary songs such as There Was a Land. A collaboration that also continued in the production of my original soundtrack for the documentary film Tiziano. The Empire of Color, produced by Sky, Kublai Film, Artee Zetagroup. An excellent interpretation was performed by the harpist Nicola Vendramin in the piece written by the director Spazi Vuoti. Among the various performers I would like to mention the violist Sabina Bakholdina, now viola at the Scala Philharmonic, Nicola Fregonese and Antonino Puliafito, violin and cello at the Fenice in Venice. And finally the violin and cello of Luca Mares and Alessandra Bordin in the final piece Where Things AreGoing.
